History

The nation of Kamien was founded in the summer of 1748 during the Great Armistice.  Originally, Kamien was meant to be a temporary neutral buffer state between two hostile greater powers. However, as time progressed, Kamien was accepted as an independent country.

The first leader of Kamien was Laullu Duun. Duun was a chief scientific officer during the Great Armistice and was one of the first people in power to suggest the idea of a buffer state in 1744. She believed a peace treaty would be beneficial for both sides and argued that, as Kamien was a poor and barren region, it was the only option. After four years, the Treaty of Carreg was signed and Kamien became a buffer state.

Because of its devotion to neutrality, Kamien has been able to quietly enhance the living conditions for its people. As she was specialised in biology as well as geology, Laullu Duun supervised the first scientific studies that eventually led to the cryogenic treatments we know today. She was also the first scientist to study the Kamien jellyfish population and its healing potential. By using scientific methods, Laullu Duun mended most of the original ecological problems in Kamien.

Laullu Duun died in 1808 in the seaside city of Kivi. Her successor was Dr Jodar Vil, a young geneticist. As the living conditions in Kamien had stabilized by then, Vil focused on Duun's jellyfish research. To be able to study the colonies properly, Vil ordered research stations to be built on the southern islands. These islands were inhabited by the Puuer, a tribal community. The Puuer were quick to understand their subordinate position to the Kamiens and offered little to no resistance. The colonisation of these islands meant that the Puuer, who lived in chaos and disease, had to assimilate to the Kamien society or suffer the consequences of their own defiance.

In 1838, Jodar Vil had his first breakthrough in the jellyfish research but Vil died two years later, unable to complete his research. His documentation, along with that of Laullu Duun was eventually used by six generations of scientists to develop Kamien Cryogenic Technology, also known as KCT.

It was the team of scientists led by Hubaal Teinad and Jidri Porus that created KCT as we know it. More information on their role in the Kamien government can be found here.

Since the implementation of the cure in 1982, less than 0.1% of the Kamien population died of natural causes. This discovery led to relative peace, a focus on the acquisition of knowledge and a population that is ever increasing.

Today, the Kamien confederation consists of four interdependent regions, all working together to strive for a better future and retain the Kamien' quality of life.
